Description

Bea is carved air — a whole scene pierced through honey-toned ribs in the manner of the openwork fans of Suzhou, light passing through a thousand tiny windows. Too pretty for a drawer: cool yourself at a ceremony, then leave it open as lacework for the shelf.

Shipping

Delivery usually takes 2–3 weeks from your order; most parcels arrive within 13–21 days.

EU: free shipping on orders of €55 or more (counted after discounts), €4.95 below that. Australia: free shipping.

VAT is included in the price, and we pay any import VAT and duty ourselves, so there is nothing to pay on delivery, whatever your order value. You get a tracking link by email when your order ships. See our shipping policy for details.

Care

Close it the way it opens, with a gentle sweep rather than a snap, and let the folds settle before you put it away. Store it closed and flat rather than standing on its edge, so the folds keep their shape.

Keep it away from heat and out of direct sun, and keep it dry. If it does get damp, open it part way and let it dry at room temperature rather than near a radiator. Do not force it open past the point where it wants to stop, and do not lean on it, because the ribs are the part that gives.

30-Day Free Returns

You have 30 days from delivery to return unworn items in their original packaging. Within the EU we email you a free return label. To exchange, return the item and place a new order. See our return policy for details.

Questions

How big is it?

The fans run from about 31 cm to 40 cm across when open, and 18 cm to 22 cm closed, so most of them sit in a handbag. Each product page lists the open and closed measurements for that fan.

Is it meant to be used, or just to look at?

Both, within reason. It is made to be opened and used to move air at a warm ceremony or in a stuffy room, and it sits well open as a piece of décor. It is still a fan rather than a tool: open and close it gently and it will keep working.

Can I buy several for a wedding?

Yes, and it is a common reason for buying them. A fan earns its place at an outdoor ceremony in July. If you are ordering several for guests, allow time: delivery usually takes 2 to 3 weeks.
